About Us

Upbeat, spirited, warm and welcoming

It’s Camp Kochavim!

Our popular summer day camp at Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue, in its 10th year, now has five separate divisions. We offer a professionally run, fun-packed programme designed to give your child adventure filled days in a secure environment. Each day of camp is themed with a variety of exciting and entertaining age appropriate activities. Campers will create lasting memories with their friends and enjoy a fantastic summer experience!

Handpicked Experienced Staff

Our hand picked staff are dedicated and experienced and are there to ensure that your child has a great summer. Their ability to care for each child as an individual is what makes Camp Kochavim such a warm and welcoming place. Our selected staff are positive role models and include qualified teachers, youth directors, youth leaders, sports instructors, dance teachers and first aiders.

We have a high ratio of staff during the camp with extra staff on the trip days. As expected all staff are fully DBS checked.

All Day Every Day

Campers will be able to express their creativity through innovative art projects, hands-on music workshops, drama sessions, scientific experiments and creative cookery! They will exercise through outdoor sports, team games, dance and martial arts with our professional instructors. Campers will also enjoy exciting entertainment with popular party performers, animals shows and bouncy inflatables. Kochavim Adventue and Kochavim Extreme campers are offered special workshops where they can choose their own activities based on their preferences.  Our full day trips are a highlight of Camp Kochavim. Campers have enjoyed visits to Chessington World, Gulliver’s World, Diggerland, LegoLand, Woburn Safari, Willows Farm, Topsy Turvey and Snow Zone. Ttrips are for Years 3-6. We ensure all trips are suitable for our campers. On trip days there are extra staff members and a security guard where appropriate.

Daily Themes

Each day of camp is themed, whether it be Aqua Fun Day, Olympic Day, Chocolate Day, Galaxy day, International day, Jungle day or Musical Euro-vision Day. All campers enjoy our camp spirit and are involved in wide range of themed activities. We ensure there is a good balance of indoor and outdoor activities, that are tailored to each age group. In addition each day campers are able explore different Jewish values connected to our daily themes.

Our Priority

Our staff ensure that every child is supervised and accounted for at all times.
A number of our staff are trained in first aid and our senior staff are also trained in safeguarding and child protection.

Every child is signed in in the morning and signed out at the end of each day. If a child will be going home with anyone else other than a parent, this is sent to us in writing. If a child comes late, parents bring their child to the camp office, and a staff member accompanies them to their group.

Camp Kochavim Giving Programme

One Family Camp

For 3 years Camp Kochavim parents have collectively sponsored an underprivileged orphan to go to summer camp with One Family.

Dear Camp Kochavim

On behalf of everyone connected to One Family UK and especially Techiya Zaga, I would like to thank you most sincerely for your generosity in collecting money to enable Techiya Zaga to join almost 400 other young orphans at our summer camp who have lost one or both parents. Each and every participant had a most wonderful time which is so crucial for their rehabilitation.  Thanks for partnering with us again.

The Step Up Summer Educational Programme

Camp Kochavim is twinned with The Step Up Camps.

The Step Up programme provides educational activities for vulnerable children and youth refugees who have fled war and violence from South Sudan. The camp offers opportunities for vital English language skills, vocational skills and health workshops, providing a secure and productive environment for these children during the holidays. The programme is run by some of our Camp Kochavim staff. Parents are invited to support our programme and collectively sponsor underprivileged children to attend this educational camp.

In August 2017 we ran the successful educational programme in Gambella, a refugee camp in Ethiopia for 100 children. Last summer August 2018, with the support of our Kochavim parents,  we ran the programme again in Gambella for another 150 young South Sudanese refugees, enabling them to do something positive and productive during the long empty summer break. We work in collaboration with a local NGO and train local staff and youth volunteers.
